Hello Everyone,
We have a very special event coming up, 18 September to 24 September. I'm hosting Murat & Michelle here in Auckland as part of their Europe and Austro-Asia tour. They are amazing teachers and performers. This will not be your typical festival type workshops. Also there won't be any open level workshops. Beginners and pre- intermediate will have their own special classes. The balance of workshops will be geared for intermediate, advanced and teachers, Which will definitely be inspiring and but not typical.
I've had my eye on them for a long time and have had the opportunity to get to know them better here in New York. Ladies get ready. You're in for a treat. Not only is Murat delicious eye candy, his charm and personality match his looks. Actually this describes Michelle also. So guys you get ready also. In a more intimate event such as this you get to actually socialize and dance with these guest teachers.
You'll get to meet and see them dance at our gala milonga on Friday 19 September. Please note that this is on the 3rd Friday of the month, not the 4th. Marion, Diego & Bev were very gracious and switched dates with us to accommodate our schedule and I want to say thank you guys, much appreciated and I'm sorry I missed Karina and Fabian this time. Kudos to you for hosting them.
They say that a picture is worth a thousand words so here is a link to one of their youtube videos, which is my favorite because for me it relates to what I and what I think our community aspires to. As you'll see it's not flashy stage but there are some very interesting moves and I love the progression from start to end. It's not all in your face in the beginning. It's not the best quality and they look a bit distorted, but the dancing isn't.
Stay tuned for follow up details in upcoming emails. I look forward to seeing you all again when I return at our Friday 29 milonga.
Cheers,
Maida

We are proud to welcome the world renowened Tango dances & Performers Jaimes Fredgen from the USA & Mariana Dragone from Buenos Aires to New Zealand.
We are pleased to have them here from the 10th to the 23rd of March, and will be holding special workshops and events during this time.
More details can be found on our events and classes pages.

Mariana Dragone has extensive experience as a Tango teacher and performer. She performed for five years with Pedro" El Indio" Benavente in Plaza Dorrego, San Telmo. She has appeared on stage with Carlos Gavito, Leòn Gieco, Mercedes Sosa and Víctor Heredia, among others. She has performed and/or taught in France, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, the U.S.A., Japan and China. For the past four years she has been specializing in workshops for women's technique. She has a warm personality, and is divine to dance with. You can see her dancing and interviewed with Carlos Gavito in December Final Edit at National Geographic Magazine
North American tango phenomenon Jaimes Friedgen hails from a family of dancers and artists and has since early childhood been immersed in a world of creative movement. With extensive training as a gymnast and a background in a variety of performing arts, including theater, music, and many forms of dance, Jaimes came upon tango at the age of fifteen. He has since learned from and worked with many of the most respected figures in the tango world and remains unclassifiable, transcendent of style and category. He has spent several years dancing, teaching, and performing throughout North America, Europe and Asia, and always continues to explore new territory within the dance.
As one of the most popular teachers in the U.S. today, it is not surprising that he is often booked more than a year in advance. He is well respected by his peers for his creativity, musicality and deep insight into the inner workings of the dance. Countless tango teachers both in the States and abroad have benefited from studying with Jaimes. He is driven to be a full time tango teacher by his love of watching people continually grow and blossom through their exploration of tango, and feels fortunate to be a part of that process. He is also a dynamic performer, and has brought much inspiration to dancers everywhere through his rare combination of fluidity, subtle elegance, and fierce animalistic intensity. His absolute love of tango is undeniable and shines through every movement he makes and every word he speaks.

Dear Janis,
"I'm home safe and sound--very tired and very happy! Thank you again for the unique and unusual experiences and most of all for sharing your wonderful friends with me. That, of course, was better than any tour could be, and no amount of money could buy. I hope to be remembered as one who loved them all.
Say hello to all your friends (and my new ones) for me--Roberto, Osvaldo, Ariel, Beto & Teresa, etc.
Much Love, Susana XOXO"
